AdStation Compliance Reminders

Jessie Sight Blog, Compliance

As part of our ongoing commitment to quality, AdStation publishers must adhere to a set of compliance guidelines set forth in our publisher agreement. To ensure your account is protected and up to date with the latest information, follow these compliance requirements:

  • Email header information must not be false or misleading.
In the “From Line” of all emails, you must always identify yourself as the sender (either your company name or a registered DBA). This means that your “From,” “To,” “Reply-To,” and routing information (which also includes the originating domain name and email address) must be accurate. Sending from privately registered sending domains is not permitted.
  • Subject lines, creatives and “friendly from” lines must be included exactly as provided by AdStation by Adknowledge.
  • The footer of every email must include:

    • A clearly visible and operable text-based opt-out link,
      • You must list a return email address or other Internet-based method to allow recipients to contact you and communicate their email messaging preferences. You must not use any spam or message filters that could block opt-out requests from reaching you.
      • Recipient’s opt-out requests must be honored within ten (10) business days.
      • Opt-in records should be maintained for at least three (3) years, in the event of a later investigation or lawsuit.
      • Opt-out links must remain active for a minimum of thirty (30) days after you send an email.
      • At least once every seven (7) days, publishers shall apply against their database the suppression list set forth in a report provided by Adknowledge.
      • It is unlawful to charge a fee, require the use of a CAPTCHA, or to require any personally identifying information beyond an email address from the recipient for them to opt-out. The recipient must not be required to take any further steps other than sending an opt-out email reply to you or to visit a single Internet website page featuring an opt-out request mechanism. You may not sell or transfer the email addresses of anyone who has opted out from your email list except for compliance purposes or as otherwise permitted by law.
      • Best practices for opt-out requests:
        • Opt-outs should be honored as quickly as possible, but no later than 48 hours.
        • Design the opt-out link to be easily recognized, read, and understood.
        • In addition to an opt-out link, you may include a “preferences” link that would allow users to change options regarding frequency of messages.
    • A clearly visible text-based postal address that is valid and corresponds with the address your business is registered and your domains are registered. If you are using a registered DBA, you must notify your account manager so that Adknowledge has a record. The DBA must correspond with the address your business and domains are registered to.
    • Your company name and a link to your company’s website.
  • If you are contacted by your account manager or the Compliance Department, you must respond promptly to acknowledge receipt of the email and confirm the steps you are taking to resolve the issue. Failure to do so could lead to termination or withholding of publisher payment.

These Guidelines summarize the standard Adknowledge Publisher Agreement. If the terms of these Guidelines differ from your Publisher Agreement, the terms of your Publisher Agreement shall govern.
